I represent the Small Charities Coalition on the ACEVO Governance Commission, established to support improved governance within the charity sector. This is especially important during a time of austerity and growing demand for charity services.
There is currently a survey out on some key issues relating to this area http://www.acevo.org.uk/governance-consultation
The early findings are very useful and helping us to ask more probing questions. But unfortunately currently a tiny number of small charities and none of the smallest charitable organisations (those under £5000 income who are unregistered with the Charity Commission) have filled it in. In similar fashion, many more Chief Execs have filled it in than Chairs and other Trustees, and it is important for us to get a balanced response.
Therefore if you are in any way involved in a small charity, or a Trustee please fill it in and if you know of people that you could forward it to I’d be very grateful if you could do so.
Underneath the survey is information about some consultation events that are taking place around the country. If you are at all interested, please book to come along.
Thanks all!
